British weekly fashion magazine Grazia goes crazy with some 3D tech, Augmented Reality and Florence and the Machine. What a nice little mix…could be worth buying this weeks issue just for that. Here is what The Guardian reported…

Bauer Media’s women’s fashion glossy Grazia will jump on the 3D bandwagon today with an augmented reality issue featuring Florence and the Machine singing and dancing on the front cover.

The “walk-in, talking Grazia” will feature augmented reality (AR) codesthroughout the issue, activated by holding the magazine up to a webcam or iPhone.

As well as a virtual performance by Florence and the Machine singing You’ve Got the Love, it will offer readers a 360- degree view of the latest spring fashion trends. Grazia’s editor-in-chief, Jane Bruton, described the effect as “stunning”.

The issue was created by Bauer and the interactive creative agency Wardenclyffe. The magazine is offering readers a guide to the new technology at graziadaily.co.uk/3D.

An iPhone app will unlock further special features, including the ability to “spin Florence around by blowing into your iPhone and take a picture of her in any location”, said Bauer.

Get down to the news agents and get your hands on a copy for shits and giggles!

Blood, Sweat and Fears - a LIVE live magazine showcasing emerging British talent across the creative fields. Living as a pop-up shop in the Shaftesbury/Sevendials area the event will transform the printed page into an interactive experience in an attempt to open up a new dialogue in communication.

BS&F will showcase new artists via gigs, experiences, interviews and unique events designed by contributors. The store will also sell pieces by established and emerging talent. All of this will be documented in a printed publication, sold after the event with all proceeds going to our partners Art Against Knives.

Organiser, and Central Saint Martins College of Art final year student, Chelsea Campbell says, “The project seeks to find a new method of communication in an industry that is slowly changing with the digital revolution. Offline, designers are looking to create new experiences to display collections - whether affected by the recession, influenced by sustainability or inspired by how their work can be seen by a worldwide online audience, the live experience is becoming a vital channel within communications”.

Working with Richard Danks, of London College of Fashion, the pair are curating an interactive experience with equal helpings of artistic merit, creative spirit and youthful ambition. Aimed at London’s creative community, from ad agency execs to students, BS&F seeks to inspire discussion and help shine a light on undiscovered talent. As well as the timetable of live events, the space will act as a pop-up shop selling the work of young artists and designers across the five days.

This event sounds fantastic and Chelsea Campbell just happens to be a very good friend of The Cool Commentator and a very talented young woman indeed. I worked with Chelsea for three months in New York at Cunning Communications and every brainstorm was a pleasure! This project is part of Chelsea’s final year at university and if doesn’t get her a first, then her lecturers are going to need a gentle slap!

I, The Cool Commentator, will hopefully be getting down to the live event and will be reporting back on just how spectacular the event turns out to be. Visit the website and find out more and if you are in London in March, or even if you are not, make sure you make a visit!
