Surely one of the more spectacular advent calendars of the year comes from the wonderful “Big Picture” who showcase some of the best photography of global events. Every Christmas they team up with the Hubble Space Program team to exhibit some of the best photographs taken by their Space Telescope, in the form of an advent calendar (you can find links to past advent calendars from the page provided). Enjoy!
And a very Merry Christmas to you all.

G/IRL’S this is one for you so check it out by clicking the image above: G/IRL: Girls In Real Life! WOMEN PHOTOGRAPHERS EMERGING IN DIGITAL CULTURE.
Women Photographers Emerging in Digital Culture showcases the work of women using digital culture to explore and establish a life in photography. As digital imaging fundamentally altered the photographic process, digital publishing and social media will change the course of photographic careers. Tools like Tumblr, Flickr, and other social platforms are enabling artists of all ages and means to publish work outside of the constraints and conventions of fine art and commercial photography, while the nature of social media (a world in which we promote only what we love) provides a new critical landscape.

How do you test an SD card to prove it’s unbreakable? Feed it to a shark, offer it up to some puppies and smash it through a window. If it works, your rewarded with some snazzy fire works. Lovely. This little viral from Samsung is a bit of fun, don’t you think?

Ever fancied switching clothes just for a laugh? Oh and of course the beautiful photoset that comes with it. Take a look at these awesome images - I love how everything is switched including hair styles! Wonderful!

The world’s largest photographs are back! Hanging high in Grand Central station in NYC, Kodak are inspiring people to take more beautiful photographs, it’d certainly inspire me if I walked through GCS and saw the world’s largest photograph every morning!

We all do it…we go out with our friends, take our expensive precious digital camera, get a bit drunk, take a few photos and then drop it on the floor sending it to camera heaven…well get yourself a Casio Exilim camera and your troubles will be over. This camera is waterproof, shock resistant and even freeze resistant…you could put it in the freezer with your vodka before the night out and it would still work. The great thing is this camera is slim, groovy looking and the photographs are great quality. This camera would be great for any occasion, especially if you are a little clumsy. Go and check out the full specs on the Casio website.

Photography that captures the suffering in the Congo. I have always been fairly envious of anyone that possesses a talent for photography. This set by Finbarr o’Reilly are amazing. You can really see some of the strife and pain on these peoples faces. Here are four of my favorites and you can see the rest here: http://ow.ly/1t6my. Please make sure you read the paragraph all about the situation in Congo before you go through them, it explains a lot.

Insect falls asleep in the garden, morning comes, and they get covered in dew…now you can see it uber close up and it is really quite impressive. These remarkable photographs were taken by physiotherapist Miroslaw Swietek at around 3am in the forest next to his home. Using a torch, the 37-year-old amateur photographer hunts out the motionless bugs in the darkness before setting up his camera and flash just millimetres from them.

Getting married soon? Know someone who is? Well…allow me to introduce Rob Booker. He was one of the photographers capturing the moments at my sisters wedding recently and his photographs are incredible. I also had a pint with him during the party and he was a nice chap so I thought I would plug him! That’s my sister on the homepage also…
