Watch this space. Google’s new ad campaign - reinventing their advertising space on websites. They’ve even got themselves a huge billboard in Times Square becoming a more diverse, smarter, relevant and more ‘open’ company. Moving away from their well know search ad status/reputation and becoming more of a major player in the ad world.

Choose a square on a grid and predict the time and date that it will rain - oh and win yourself a tenner for your cunning. Walkers have teamed up with Google to bring you the Rainy Days campaign. Users choose a square on an interactive map which represents a particular 4s/km of land and predict the time and date it will next rain. Really great interactive campaign by Walkers - but an expensive one due to how often it rains in the UK.
Google is running a couple of print ads in Turkey to promote their new real time search function. The ideas and executions are really quirky and hit the “oh yeah” spot head on! Inspirational!
Google have got bored with search and have moved onto to inventing cars that drive themselves. People have been spotting these secretive vehicles…wait, hold on a second, a Prius with a great big camera on the roof, driving around LA? How is the secretive? Well, it isn’t. Google have nothing to hide it would seem - they have test driven their autocar’s over 1000 miles without a hitch. We like the sound of this, but surely removing the need to drive your car makes life far more boring? If you want to read more, just click the link through to The New York Times article.

Looking for a way to save time? Well here is Google Instant, saving you up to two - five seconds when searching - you don’t even have to press the enter button! The smarter search predicts what you are about to write, with the top prediction in grey in the search box, meaning you can stop typing when you find the right page.
Some say its just a scheme to get more revenue for Google, giving the user pages that are not what they were actually looking for. Either way its a great advancement in real time search.

Yesterday we posted about Google’s logo, with animated particles moving when the cursor moved over them. Today however, the new logo shows a grey look on the name, and when you begin to type, the famous google logo is restored. Just a few cool ideas to spice up google you say? Well not according to the media this week, who suggest that google have a lot to announce at their ‘can’t miss’ search event.
A real-time search overhaul is apparently to be announced. Watch this space.

Demonstration of Google Liquid Galaxy at the TED conference this week…effectively immersive Google Earth and it looks pretty damn impressive!
Google Buzz…what the hell is it? Well, this video explains the concept by the newest attempt by Google to take social media to the next level. Essentially Google Buzz is Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare and Blogging all in one place…ok, all very well and good but it takes away some key elements that make social media so enjoyable, the main one being customisation. Okay, so it brings all these applications into one neat package but is it REALLY needed? I don’t think so…personally I like to have numerous accounts and customised layouts etc, it is all part of the fun. Besides, I don’t have Google Mail so I can’t get it anyway.
Google Street Maps at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Google have stuck one of their street view cameras onto a snow mobile and sent it hurtling around all the ski routes and mountain passes that will be featured over the Winter Olympics this year. They wanted to keep the “immersive experience going from roads to mountains” apparently. Nice.
